@joyousjoyness My small moments can be too easily crushed under the boot of a fascist. I’m gonna need bigger moments or the small moments won’t last long enough to even know they happened. Winston had small moments of joy in Orwell’s 1984. Didn’t save him from anything, did it?

@oberstenzian one small moment doesn't save people. It's collective small moments that create tipples that form into huge waves. We can only affect change on a small part of the world, and every little bit counts.

@joyousjoyness I’d add that the people on the side of hate understand the importance of small moments very well. Indoctrination happens in moments of isolation. Hate takes over in small moments — one bigoted conversation, one local election, one school board takeover at a time. And they build up these moments, for decades and generations, until they can surge back. Patience, perseverance and small moments are lessons we should take to heart too. If they can do it, so can we.
