Sending my poo off to the government, as is my proud patriotic duty.

90% of bowel cancers can be treated if diagnosed early, but something like 60% of eligible Australians would rather die than do the free test, even though it's not invasive like a Covid test, and really no more icky than wiping your arse.

@stib literal shitposting
@stib I have just got one of these from my health authority here in Sweden! It has some interesting diagrams....
@stib
I struggle to get my head around my friends here in the UK, who are grandparents now, who won't do this test because of the ick factor; you seemed to cope just fine with handling other people's sh*t (your kids, grandkids), but would rather run the risk of dying of embarrassment because you won't deal with your own once every 2 years?
@stib wait they can do it off just poop? I thought you needed a colonoscopy

@arichtman @stib It's an initial test, if it comes back with anything of concern then they usually recommend a colonoscopy as follow-up since what they're testing for can be caused by a few other conditions (most of which are still of concern anyway and all of which would require a colonoscopy anyway).

I guess it also saves people having to argue with a GP to get a colonoscopy referral, and/or getting colonoscopies when they don't have any actual symptoms of anything. As well as giving the people who would otherwise avoid a colonoscopy an alternative that doesn't require time off or anything.

@stib The government keeps sending you shit, now you have an opportunity to send some right back.
@stib I sent my shit to the govt a few hours before I flew out.
@stib Huh. I had no idea he did healthcare. I thought he just stared in games.
@stib well that's shitty
