🇩🇪YES! SPD-Justizministerin Hubig blockiert zurzeit deutsche Zustimmung zur grundrechtswidrigen #Chatkontrolle! 🛡️

🇪🇺YES: Germany is not supporting the EU's #ChatControl bill as proposed!
The blocking minority needed to stop this illegal mass surveillance plan seems secured (for now). ✅

Opposition now also from LU🇱🇺 & SK🇸🇰!

Le LU🇱🇺 et la SK🇸🇰 s'y opposent aussi !

@echo_pbreyer good, but also scarring !! 😖

@echo_pbreyer super Arbeit.

@echo_pbreyer I wish my own (Danish) government would stop being so surveillance happy, but that's not likely to happen for a long time still.

@echo_pbreyer at least SOMEONE remembers STASI
@echo_pbreyer Nice!! Keep the fight up lads!

@echo_pbreyer Great! If I sum up the percetage-of-EU-total-population for the 9 countries that are opposing/neutral (pop percents from wikipedia Demographics_of_the_European_Union), that becomes 40.37% of EU pop.

Does that mean that the second condition for Qualified majority, 65% of the total EU population, cannot be reached, even if undecided countries turn in favour?

@quite @echo_pbreyer Yes that's correct. It would mean a blocking minority.
@echo_pbreyer It's an irony that post-communist countries like Czech Republic, Slovakia or Poland are now opposing this Orwellian nightmare while traditional democracies like France, Sweden or Spain support it ...
@PeterSoukup @echo_pbreyer Maybe they still remember what living under surveillance is like
@echo_pbreyer Thank you, Germany, and all the others opposing this. The Portuguese government's and most of our politicians stance on this matter has been a shame.

Something may be lost in translation, but "drawing up a united compromise proposal" isn't a statement that fills me with hope.

@echo_pbreyer Really? o.O This is great news!
Let's just hope they don't pull a Sweden and "accidentally" vote for it instead 🙃
@echo_pbreyer Maps like these came up a while ago, too, and I didn't think to write -- even with my mild red/green blindness it looks like everything is one color except for the undecided 😭 Different reds/greens would help a lot 🙏

@ctietze A python script creates the map. It currently reads:
"In Favour": "#e31a1c", # Bright red
"Not in Favour": "#33a02c", # Green
"Undecided": "#1f78b4", # Blue
"Other": "#d3d3d3" # Light grey

Any other suggestions?

@echo_pbreyer @ctietze viridis should be safe for the absolute majority of color-blind people:

Introduction to the viridis color maps

@echo_pbreyer that’s great, but what I don’t understand is that one rogue country (Hungary) constantly torpedoes decisions that threatens all of EU’s safety and a decision that undermines everybodies privacy can be decided by a simple majority.
