@ekis
TL;DR: they are both bad, but not in the same way
The only problem with this take is that that latter side you mention fails to rise to the occasion each time they are elected to power, and correct the concerns of the ages (gerrymandering, for instance) and are very ineffective at delivering on those promises you list; indeed, when elected to power, their success are marked more by insider trading and the preservation of the status quo than protection of the working and walking men and women of the day.
I have no love for the rightists of the world of any stripe, but the policies and the effectiveness of leftist governments in this country have not provided me with any hope for the nation nor any protection from the things that have brought us to the present.
Then there is this concept of 'bipartisanship'. I don't know the solution to this problem; but I do know that if your first impulse is to accommodate the wishes of the opposition, you're always going to be at their mercy.
One does not give fascists a seat at the table why? because it legitimizes their arguments before they have said a word. This is bipartisanship, and this is what democrats do *first*.
Obviously I am antifascist; but Democrats need to turn the fucking page.
