StuartB@Geri I found myself applauding the telly last night - I only saw the bit where he picked up "The Ant n Dec Award", but his words rang true - he knew that people voted for him when the BBC had disowned him for speaking up (again) for those with no voice, and he would do it again.
I have a feeling he was warned not you say anything, but did so anyway.
@stuartb I did not watch it but was pleased he won. He is an honourable man, and history will remember him kindly

@Geri I've pretty much given up on being a fan of people - with the exceptions of Harry Secombe, Spike Milligan*, and Terry Pratchett, all my celebrity heroes have turned out to be garbage humans - he seems to be a good 'un, but there is time to be proven wrong, yet, I fear.
*Actually, scratch Spike - I've just remembered some of his views of those of Indian or African descent...
