Infuriatingly, Columbia Pictures president Harry Cohn decided that despite having a perfectly lovely singing voice (https://youtu.be/DA50l_zBHUs?si=3h5aGx82tKgJ9gW3) Rita Hayworth should be dubbed by Big Band singer Nan Wynn

Fred Astaire had a long fascination with Latin dance & music. He even performed with none other than Eduardo Cansino- Rita Hayworth’s father prior to his film. Astaire would go on to name RIta as one of his favorite dance partners while Hayworth would state that “You Never Were Lovelier” (1942) was her favorite of her films.
