WFH downside: Someone is always mowing their lawn or, worse, leaf-blowing, when you're about to do an online meeting. *sigh*
@timbray a near neighbour once tortured me with hours of noisy lawnmowing despite all the houses near here having rather small gardens; it later transpired they were using the mower to chop up a pile of prunings
@timbray yep, same. I think it was a tablesaw that interrupted me a few minutes ago on a Teams call.
@timbray and in the winter it's snowblowers! At least I've got my windows closed then.
And don't get me started about the barking dogs!
@timbray at least it's not the kids from the school behind you who want their ball back from your garden
@timbray I have concrete construction projects in both houses on either side of me.
@timbray We had a live stream with a colleague who forgot his good mic at work and had a neighbor start lawnmowing right next to his window. You can hear it on the recording:

Sooo distracting. He never left his Mic behind again. :)

@pamelafox @timbray my neighbour was practicing his bagpipes this afternoon…
@TheWoodenheaded @timbray lol I tried learning harmonica once, but our cat HATED the sound of me practicing it. no more harmonica!
@timbray leafblowers! Don't get me started!
@timbray You need a better microphone. My coworkers swear they can't hear a thing when there's a cacophony outside.
@timbray Gasoline-powered leaf blowers are allowed in Vancouver?

@timbray Yeah, there are days that I seriously consider driving to the company office: Landscapers/leaf-blowers, maintenance down the street, construction a few streets over, etc.

Thankfully with noise cancelling it's mostly a problem for me, not the people on the other side of the call.

@timbray Or a dog barking!!πŸ˜‚ Or the clock chimes Westminster on the hour! Yep!
