Pretty much. A while back they drew a line in the sand over something (can’t remember what) Trump called their bluff, and they quietly reversed themselves to avoid a public confrontation.
I mean, I’m no fan of Roberts nor the current SCOTUS, but this isn’t a ruling on the merits, but a stay on the reinstatement by the lower court.
Still shitty, just more nuanced than the headline suggested.
And for even more accuracy, it was only John Roberts who issued that stay, without explanation.
