In the name of competitiveness, corporate lobby groups are promoting a radical plan to create an EU-level ‘28th regime’ of parallel, weaker rules. This could help corporations to avoid stricter member state rules for taxation, labour laws, and more, triggering a race to the bottom for social rights.
