It’s more like the Nazis fought Russia. They had a deal to carve-up Poland but then the Nazis (as Nazis do) reneged on that deal.
Europe was the one making deals with the Nazis. Which the Nazis kept reneging on. As Nazis do.
Stalin offered Europe help to fight the Nazis. But Europe refused.
The position of Truman most exemplifies the West during WW2:
“If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible, although I don’t want to see Hitler victorious under any circumstances.”
Europe and America are besides the point.
