You guys aren't going to believe this. I just opened my next kit. It has interior lighting that requires a SOLDERING IRON. I just today bought one of those! I had no idea this kit needed one! Thanks, broken Keurig! #hoscale #HOModel #scalemodel
@Drnik46 Looks like LED's + "ballast resistors" (which keep the LED's from exploding :) )
Hey thanks for posting this bc here's a kit mfgr I didn“t know about (https://www.rslaserkits.com) and they cover #NScale pretty well too. Even a few things in S and TT.
@14mission there's no power source provided. Kits usually do something battery operated, but those don't have resistors, so I'm assuming this is to tap into the power source of the railroad? I don't actually do any of the train parts; I just like making the buildings, so I'm not sure what (if anything) I can do with this.
@Drnik46 Hopefully the kit has some specs about voltage. But generally with LED's one you have those resistors set up (in series) they can deal with a pretty wide range of voltages. I've powered lights just like those with 9v batteries.
That would probably be fine for the ones you've got there but obviously it'd be nice to know for sure that that's a safe level before just trying.
@14mission https://midwestmodelrr.com/ is a short drive from my house, but they have a lot of everything. I picked this kit up the last time I went to pick up an online order from there so I didn't have to pay for shipping. Joke's on me, I spent more than I would have on shipping because I wandered the store for an hour.
