Over the weekend, I asked my sister-in-law, who is English, whether she would move to Wales to be with her husband, my brother, if he were deported back to Wales.

Answer came there none...

Flags, Farage and hotels: How the media is driving England into the arms of Reform

Relentless media coverage of migrant hotels and small boats is driving a surge of white nationalism in a toxic, divided country

@PhilipCJames I'd move to Wales in a moment! I'd even try to learn Welsh.

@BackFromTheDud

I've done that. Tried to learn Welsh, I mean...

@PhilipCJames Yeah, I know. Irish is probably easier!

@BackFromTheDud

They are related. I'm given to understand that 'the Welsh are just the Irish who couldn't swim...'

@PhilipCJames Hmm. Either way, at least Wales has a reason for Nationalism, as opposed to Colonial England (where Nationalism celebrates the oppression of other nations)

@BackFromTheDud

I lived in Germany in the 1990s and saw at a distance (tho closer than UK) how Nationalism destroys people when it raises its ugly head.

When first in BRD, we'd visit "Yugoslavian Restaurants." As I left, following the breakup of FRY and the spate of Nationalism-fueled wars in the Balkans, there were no more Yugoslav Restaurants, just Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian etc outlets.

Some Yugoslavs didn't return to BRD - murdered cos they had the wrong surname in the wrong place...

@PhilipCJames Nationalism is very close to Fascism, and therein madness lies. Why can't we all work together, ffs?!
