@linuxmint So version 22.2 still remains on Kernel 6.8?
Linux Mint 22.2 Release Notes - Linux Mint

Linux Mint is an elegant, easy to use, up to date and comfortable desktop operating system.

@Distante @linuxmint 6.14 according to the post
@AgentK But my OS updated without updating the kernel.

@Distante The new ISO has the kernel 6.14.

However if you upgrade your system you will stay un 6.8 except if you change manually thé kernel.
@linuxmint

@Distante @linuxmint fresh Install ships HWE kernel 6.14 but you can install HWE kernel manually after upgrading from 22.1. however you should know there's some issues with kernel 6.14, see https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_zara.php

@linuxmint
If one's system is running 21.3 Virginia, is there an upgrade path to 22.2?
@quoidian @linuxmint
I think you would have to do every version upgrade since 21.3. So 21.3 -> 22 -> 22.1 -> 22.2.
Please correct me, if i'm wrong. I'm not 100 % sure.
@Papaexmatrikulatus @linuxmint i'm going to try the Great Leap directly to 22.2 .
@quoidian make sure to have a backup 😅
@Papaexmatrikulatus @linuxmint
Two machines - the Thinkpad, a success; the tower ugraded but 'system reports' - 'system information' says still 21.3 Virginia.
@quoidian @linuxmint
Does neofetch say the same?

@Papaexmatrikulatus @linuxmint
Neofetch:
Linux Mint 21.3 x86_64
AMD Phenom 8550 Triple- (3) @2

the Update Manager 'Edit' no longrr ha the fourth item.

I'm assuming I have 22.2 and some file that both consult wasn't updated.

@quoidian @linuxmint @2
Maybe. You can still opt for a fresh install, if it's not to much of a hustle.
@Papaexmatrikulatus @linuxmint @2
How can I tell what version I am running otherwise? uname -a isn't helpful.
@quoidian @linuxmint @2 I guess if all of the Linux Mint changes for 22.2 apply to your system, it should be fine. I'm not sure.
The Ubuntu packages should be newer now, as you switched from 22.04 (Mint 21.3) to 24.04 (Mint 22.2) Ubuntu LTS base.
@Papaexmatrikulatus @linuxmint @2
Still Ubuntu jammy jellyfish according to software sources.
Snapshot still says Virginia.
Seems stable enough.

@quoidian You have to upgrade firt to 22.

After you will be able to upgrade to 22.2.

@linuxmint

@angedestenebres @linuxmint ok. The leap from 21.3 to 22 is explained where?

System reports - system information:
Distro: Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia base: Ubuntu 24.04 noble.

Should I edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list ? s/virginia/zara/ and s/jammy/noble/ ???

@quoidian Normally you just have to mintupgrade tool.

However, Mint 21.3 is based on Jammy. If you system reports see it as Noble there is something strange.

@linuxmint

@angedestenebres @linuxmint
Yes. Update Manager reports that a Zara was installed but the apt sources file was untouched and all the other reporters say the system is Virginia, except mintupgrade who says zara. Rebooting didn't resolve.

@quoidian I guess you have to report the issue to Mint Team: https://github.com/linuxmint/mintupgrade/issues

@angedestenebres @linuxmint they have a workaround involving editing the /etc/apt/sources.d/official-* file .
@linuxmint The update went smoothly and very quickly. Thank you very much.
