Russian JT9 contest bringing in plenty of DX on the magloop this afternoon.

JT9 should find more use again; it's a great low power mode; very robust.

@MW1CFN I'm listening on 14078 now. I can't hear a thing :-(
@GW0NGA I'm on 18MHz. They've run it on 14MHz in the past, but maybe they are trying to escape the unending expansionism of FT8 and FT4. Ironic, when you think about it...
@MW1CFN Ah OK! I am decoding a few stations on 18104 now. I have neve rhad a JT9 contact, wonder if I should bite the bullet ...
@GW0NGA Go for it! It's quite rare to make a random FT9 QSO now. 5-10W is more than enough even with a wire antenna and propagation is quite good today.
@MW1CFN I'm going for it! I have a doublet which works best on 17m, so I use the band quite a lot. Typically I put out 4 calls with nothing, and then 2 stations answered back ...

@GW0NGA Next year, you can enter the contest. I got into the top ten with a ~75% effort on my part one year. It was nice to have a go, but contests really aren't my thing!
