@HeavenlyPossum @thomasjwebb What exactly do you think people should be doing that they aren’t? I see so many takes like this and they never say anything useful. Do you mean violence? Is there something besides voting, protesting, preparing, protecting, suing, supporting allies, etc. that I am failing to do as a US democrat that can make a difference?

They tell people not to vote… then when that leads to fascists taking power, they say violence is the only solution. Self-fulfilling prophecy from keyboard warriors that will never take up arms in a rebellion of any kind. An absolute clown show, and not the funny kind of clowns.

@PandaCab @vonnieda @HeavenlyPossum @thomasjwebb I want to see what opinions are out there even if I disagree. For example. I didn’t realize until this conversation that there were many gun nuts on the left too. I thought the gun-lovers were almost all with MAGA.

So, maybe they are trolls. Or maybe they are just very similar to MAGA in most ways, but do it from the “left”? Either way, I definitely learned something.

I got quite upset at somebody saying “buy guns” on the day of a mass shooting targeting children. I don’t regret it; more guns is unquestionably a very bad thing.

Guns, which are already proliferate in American society, are readily available to fascists.

So what we really need to do to keep people safe is to stop people who might oppose fascism from acquiring guns.

I came to all these feelings & opinions as a natural result of living in the USA. I learned all this marxist/anarchist theory on the taxpayer dime at public colleges and libraries.

You have focused on gun ownership as an individualist consumer issue. Do you also advocate disarming the police? If not, then you’re not consistently anti-gun.

@HeavenlyPossum @mls14 @thomasjwebb @PandaCab @vonnieda In my city, the police actually commit a plurality of homicides. So it seems the fastest way to cut gun violence would be to disarm them.

Realistically, the USA has so many guns that we need something like demobilization on the scale of a country recovering from a civil war. Violence is facilitated by weapon access, but caused by social inequality. Pacifist Quaker/Amish farmers have guns too. They just use them responsibly for farm shit

Defund the police. Make people join a “well-regulated militia” if they want guns. And keep the guns under guard at local armories unless we are invaded in time of war.
