Cowboy Who?@gintoxicating I had a coworker who had a side-gig helping people with their cover letters and resumes. She always said that men were the worst; they take every correction personally and want to fight you on every suggestion.
@CowboyWho oh god I tried to help a guy with his first big boy resume and despite my 20 years of experience in the industry including tons as a hiring manager it was a struggle even getting him to accept my advice like “this is a typo” or “half your resume shouldn’t be a single image of a logo”
Even at work providing like doc review comments i gotta start with some fluffy deferential sentence to not cause people[1] to get defensive like “im sure you thought of this and its very nitpicky but someone like me less familiar than you with this subject area might benefit from a definition of what a gorgdormalfn is :)”
I kinda miss just being able to say “define” lol

In my current job, the only time we had a cishet man work under me, we had to let him go because of the very first code review… he fought every single comment and refused to update his code. He always was there on a temporary basis as he wanted to go back to university the next year so I would have had to maintain the code afterward but he wouldn't listen.
I was still in the egg at the time so it wasn't even because of misogyny 🤦 (and I hope he either changed a lot or dropped out as a student because he was going into medicine…)
