In my beautiful city of Wroclaw today was opened new tram/bus stop. It is Vienna type stop which means it has elevated road to slow down cars and allow passengers to walk in to tram on the proper height. However, our president decided to maintain 2 lanes for cars and not to do separated bicycle lane. Even though the project was ready. So now we have probably the only one in the world Vienna type tram stop with 2 lanes for cars 😅 Have you ever seen anything like this? @notjustbikes

Before you continue to YouTube

@sobol @notjustbikes and what about the buses? Will they use tram tracks, or will they be stuck in traffic like before?
Buses will use the same lane as trams.
@TOrynski

@sobol so now you will have to cross two lanes of traffic to board a bus too... While the Highway Code orders driver to stop for the tram at centrally located tram stop, but does not say the same about the buses?

Wow, that's a real improvement! :D

@TOrynski buses and trams got separated lane before and separated traffic lights from cars.

@sobol I saw how it worked for trams before, there is no way it will suddenly start working for buses.

Also, what about nights when traffic lights are in yellow flashing mode?

@TOrynski I don’t think all traffic lights are in yellow mode by night anymore.
@sobol lot of them were last time I was in Wrocław.
@TOrynski actually now I’m not sure about the buses. I’ll check it next week.
@TOrynski Ok I got info buses will not use tram lane. They will use right lane next to the sidewalk as it was before.
@TOrynski @sobol @notjustbikes they will use the tram curb. Dresden has had this system for a long time.
@sobol i can''t pronounce przystanek wroclawski but at least there is enough room to cycle around the cars if there are two lanes :)
\o from actual vienna (that has more than enough of its own transportation stupidities...)
@stefanct we already had a design ready with 1 lane for cars and 1 bicycle lane, but suddenly president decided to make a new design with 2 lanes for cars and no separated bicycle lane.
Also wrocławski in German is breslauer 😉

@sobol @notjustbikes users have to cross 2 lanes of car traffic to access the tram? That's ridiculous!

During construction, I bet the cars only had one lane, and yet the traffic kept moving.

@guigsy actually there were 2 lanes before. Now it is elevated. But we had a ready design for removing 1 lane for cars and adding bicycle lane instead. But it was thrown away to trash.
@sobol @notjustbikes I like our viennese stops, but they make sens only on calm streets, when there is no space to make island. Two lane viennese stop is... wow... I have no words
@sobol @notjustbikes I don’t think this is unique, many cities have 4 car lanes with tram stops in the middle: https://maps.app.goo.gl/boHYZyqX3CD2kDj66

@marinbenc but it is not an island stop in the middle. It is stop where you wait on the sidewalk and when tram stops you need enter the road with 2 lanes to get to the tram. You wait when the bench is and tram will arrive when cars are on the photo below.
