“But who would be a better nominee than Gavin Newsom!?” May I suggest:

- Tim Walz
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
- JB Pritzker
- Cory Booker
- Blåhaj

@arilin Even Harris, Clinton, or Sanders would be better. (I'd prefer not not throw Clinton or Sanders though, and frankly, the country is racist and sexist, Harris is a longshot)

@kitana @arilin Yeah, I do not like or trust Newsom at all.

This isn't to say I want him to slow down making Fox News hosts crazy, though, because that is at least a public service. In this moment he's shooting at a correct target.

@Austin_Dern @kitana @arilin did he take his aim off of trans and homeless people? Because that’s who I remember him targeting most recently.
@c0dec0dec0de Not to my knowledge. Which is why, yeah, fuck him.
@arilin What vaguely worries me is that we're building up such a head of anti-Newsom steam that we're going to get a repeat of '24. I'm far from arguing that Newsom is the best choice, but if it comes down to Newsom vs. Vance or Rubio and people stay home again because they'd rather do that than vote for Newsom, even if that's basically voting against Trump III Electric Beegalee, then we're going to be in a world of hurt.
@chelivan It's a concern, but I'm really hoping I don't have to make that call come the next election. Given a choice between Newsom and a Trump protégée, I'd vote for Newsom—but I'd just like to see Democrats put someone forward who I genuinely like. And, I don't think Democratic party operatives are really "pricing in" how aggravated more leftist Democratic voters are with the perception that they keep being taken for granted.

@chelivan @arilin Gavin Newsom is a fucking moron, but if they're the only choice, I'll vote for them, I'll be loudly unhappy about it because he's a fucking dipshit, but I'll do it and anyone who tries to use him as an excuse **not** to vote out the current dipshits was never arguing in good faith or even has a grasp on reality, they live in a delusional wonderland.

Anyone who stays home because "but the better choice isn't /good enough/" was never an ally, or a friend of basic democracy.
