there's another reason for why i hate gemini other than it just being AI, whenever it (randomly!!) opens on my phone it turns off my headphones. It doesn't stop the video or plays a different sound, it doesn't simply disconnect the bluetooth, it somehow TURNS OFF my headphones.

whenever gemini does this i need to put the earbuds back in the case and take them out again. how is this a thing

This is still such a big issue for me. Whenever I try to listen to music Gemini turns itself on and powers off my headphones. I even bought different headphones and it still happens with them.

I can even put my headphones away, without me touching them or my phone, but gemini will randomly start and turn off my headphones.

Why must I suffer

okay, it seems to be any google assistent doing this. I switched to “Google Assistent”, headphones still turn off. I have no idea what causes this or can be done to fix it, and Google doesn't allow to uninstall any of the two. thank you, Google ❤️

now that gemini is “disabled”, this pops up and my headphones are turned off immediately

it seems to be some voice typing / AI assistant thing that either my phone or headphones accidentally trigger constantly, no matter how I try to disable it.

@ErikUden search for "Default Digital Assistant app" in your settings and set it to "none", maybe that helps?
@anreji I DID!!! now the headphones just turn off without anything popping up. maybe gemini wasn't my enemy after all. welp, i got 20€ headphones knowing what i should expect
@ErikUden WTF... do you have a dedicated button for this on your headphone maybe? For triggering an assistant I mean? Mine have one and I disabled it via app.
@ErikUden at this point just disable the Gemini app (yes you can do that)
@ErikUden but what about the poor investors??? they need to put ai in everything so they can... make money??? probably.
@ErikUden I thought you would be running graphene or e/os/
@ErikUden I cannot even begin to understand the chain of the events in the stack that would lead to this

no, seriously, I have no fucking clue how in the fuck that would happen
@ErikUden I turned off the assistant the first thing when I got my phone, I don't really find it to be helpful at all, nothing else than in the way in general.
@ErikUden if you hate it, why not deactivate gemini/google app. Its two birds with one stone XD

@ErikUden

I kept the assistant disabled for as long as I could, but the constant nagging made me ditch Google Android for /e/OS on a Fairphone 4.

Quite a revelation feeling you actually own your phone. Like, it is there for you, not the other way around.

@seindal I wish I chose /e/OS for my Fairphone. But I got it from my dad and he chose the Google Android.

@ErikUden

You can flash /e/OS yourself. I managed to do so.

@ErikUden interesting observation 🤔
When Gemini pops up on my Samsung phone unexpectedly, it pauses music in Bluetooth earbuds, but it resumes when I close it.
