I have an audition with a local choral ensemble Tuesday night. Yay!

But...

Geezus, I've been doing auditions my entire life and I *still* get really nervous about them. You'd think by now I'd have them in stride.

I think it's when I'm in any situation where I don't know *any* of the people and yet I'm going to "perform" and they're going to judge me. 👍 👎

Maybe it's a little more uncertainty than nervousness... I need to decide sometime today which of 2 of the pieces from my voice lessons I'll use. The one I think might be better I seem to go a little flat on, though... but I guess I will be able to have some minimal accompaniment. If she can give me the left hand of the piano I think I should be fine. (But then my reptile brain kicks in and says "but maybe they would have admitted you if you'd used the *other* piece!")

On the other hand, I am at the nice stage in my life where I am completely comfortable that if they *don't* admit me, then it wasn't the right thing anyway.

But still...

Yeesh.

@constantorbit YAY for the audition; Good Luck! My auditions haven't included singing a prepared piece, just ear training exercises and scales, and an interview.

@wx1g Yeah, honestly I get waaaaay too caught up in the prepared piece. I don't think that's the substantial part. They just want that to know what my voice sounds like, will I blend, etc.

There will also be sightsinging (which I'm pretty confident about) and I'm sure scales to assess my range.
