For no particular reason
@harald Mietinkin, että Rooseveltille ei varmaan tullut mieleen pyytää Adolfia kylään. Mut Chamberlain tosiaan taisi tavata Hitlerin Munchenissä.
@harald Few days later, Great Britain, France and Italy agreed to Nazideutschland annexing parts of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia wasn't invited to the conference where the Munich Agreement was signed.
@taschenorakel @harald “The Sudetenland is the last territorial claim which I have to make in Europe.”

@taschenorakel @harald Lots of good stuff in that speech.

“In the course of barely a year it was possible to conclude an agreement which, in the first instance for a period of ten years, on principle removed the danger of a conflict [between Germany and Poland]. We are all convinced that this agreement will bring with it a permanent pacification. We realize that here are two peoples which must live side by side and that neither of them can destroy the other. ”

Do you think we can achieve peace in our time, @harald? I mean, there might be a piece of paper in someone's hand involved.

@bkuhn @mjd very hard question. Peace would first have to be defined. Mereley living next to a hostile neighbour might be perceived as not peaceful. Or maybe I missed some Chamberlain reference?

@harald

It was just a morbid Chamberlain joke: “I hold in my hand a piece of paper that brings us peace in our time”

@mjd

Peace doesn't need paper.

Peace requires respect.
Peace requires tolerance.
Peace requires fairness.
Peace requires insight.

How can we convey these values to the people of Russia? Heck, we're throwing these values overboard ourselves as they are bad for "business".

I don't see any chance for peace unless we get up our asses and stop the libertarian coup disrupting "woke concepts" like democracy and peace.
