While I'm generally very pro-EU, this #ChatControl initiative they keep pushing - despite experts persistently debunking the rationale behind it - is indefensible.

Instead, this initiative will create an extremely invasive surveillance state where everything you type, view and receive is automatically scanned & potentially (falsely) flagged for human review.

This would mean the end of privacy.

@eriq the biggest problem is that in the end if the law passes the most affected by this law are ordinary people, pro-privacy activists, criminals, terrorists (all people who want to intercept) will use alternative methods resistant to censorship like mastodon matrix pgp so this law is not only useless but it destroys the privacy of ordinary people not of "criminals" and this thing is also happening in Switzerland where they are discussing an even more restrictive law in fact Proton moved to EU
