I'm looking at offering a google drive/dropbox alternative where you own the hard drive. The service would be hosted out of a small datacenter in a bank vault. You'd get the physical drive in the mail when you don't want the service anymore.

Heat from the DC is heating the building which is run by a charitable non-profit. Canadian owned and operated.

Trying to gauge interest - not the only place I'll be asking but would really appreciate any feedback on the idea.

Help a charity by helping to heat the building.

@robertkeizer very interesting concept. Some ideas that would fit my personal use cases:
- Support multiple drive mirroring and or striping. Not sure if you’re thinking of zfs but that’d be way cool to be able to pick a 3 drive z1 or 5 drive z2.
- s3 compatible api
