i broke my not-super-strict rule of not looking at memory alpha every single time i'm intrigued by a new character on voyager, and BOOOO i'm annoyed every single time. stop killing them off!!!
i'm liking all the little character study episodes, not super compelled by the kazon as antagonists, though. they feel like a bland rehash of several aliens
Astolpho@snoozlebee I remember hearing that the kazon were based on southern california street gangs which, while incredibly stupid, was perfectly in keeping with the star trek tradition of having the alien species origins be the unexamined racism of the showrunners

@snoozlebee It did result in an episode where Janeway tried to get the kazon to sit down with the Displaced Space White People who tried to use the opportunity to just cold murder all of the kazon leadership, and revealed that the kazon's beef with them was because they were previously subjugated by the Space White People, though, so there's that
@astolpho that's probably the first time i've found them at all interesting! wondering how they're gonna follow up on that.
