My mom once asked if my Jewish girlfriend celebrated Thanksgiving. When I scoffed, she reminded me that there weren’t any Jews on the Mayflower.

UnderpantsWeevilIn fairness, Thanksgiving wasn’t made a national holiday until 1863. By then, the US had plenty of Catholics, in no small part thanks to the Irish Potato Famine of the prior two decades.
It also had plenty of Jews, thanks to the Napoleonic Wars and the then-recent string of wars along the border of the Ottoman Empire.
Hell, it might be worth pointing out that the Mayflower was the product of the 30 Years War, which also produced a sizable exodus of Catholics and Jews to the New World.
