I have no problem using 3D acceleration on Crostini, it uses vulkan and pipes right into the Wayland display. That said it *is* Intel and the acceleration isn't stellar, but it's much better than if it were just software rendered.
What I have a problem with is controllers; unrecognized hardware can't be sent to Crostini, so you're stuck with a real Xbox controller or the keyboard. Unrecognized controllers CAN be sent to the ArcVM, which is why I use the android version of RetroArch⁺.
