Current #bikepacking dilemnas:
- will I take the sleeping bag ?
- will I take the hamac ?

I'm taking off tomorrow evening or the morning of next day.

Some uncertainities because of the forecasted heat (it will be bearable, unlike the south half of France): I may ride at night – I like it, but you miss a lot of scenery doing that.

Choices choices choices.

Despite the days being extremely hot, a sleeping bag is a must for me or I freeze my ass off.
😬

If you spend the nights in hammock without a sleeping pad it will get even colder.

@0gust1

@mikael yes, I fear a bit the temp between 4 to 6 AM, especially with a tired body.

And you're right about the hammock: it's nice to be suspended (less dew), but a mattress is mandatory (and some cover too – like a sleeping bag or blanket).

I have a bivy bag (in case of inclement weather), and it brings a lot of heat, but I fear the dampness.

I'll maybe ditch the bivy instead (but as it is pretty small, it won't be the same space/weight gain).

@0gust1 I like to get up at 0400 and ride into the dawn to escape the heat, find a good napping/chill spot for the heat of the day, and then onward into the dusk.

A hammock and an (e)book could make the afternoon a delight.
