🎉We invite you to meet Liedson Tavares Carneiro author of the recently published article https://doi.org/g9v97c and researcher at East Tennessee State University. Get to know him and his passion for plant–pollinator interactions🧵

See alt text for the full answers (1/9)

What inspired you to study plant–pollinator interactions? “My interest in plant–pollinator interactions began during my undergraduate studies... I was initially drawn to floral morphology and plant taxonomy, but I quickly became more interested in how flowers function.” (2/9)
Who have been the strongest influences on your career so far? “I’ve been lucky to have several Brazilian professors who greatly influenced my career... Dr. Rita Baltazar Lima, Dr. Celso Martins & Dr. Isabel Machado have been a major influence...” (3/9)
What are you most proud of accomplishing? “I’m most proud of building a meaningful early-career path as a first-generation graduate, despite having limited resources and support..” (4/9)
What is your favourite part of your work related to plants? “What I enjoy most is observing flowers and bees in their natural environments, whether in dry tropical forests, Californian serpentine seeps, or agricultural landscapes…” (5/9)
What are some of the key challenges in studying plant-pollinator interactions? “As in most ecological systems, one major challenge in studying plant–pollinator interactions is their high spatiotemporal variability and strong context dependence.” (6/9)
How might your findings help us understand or conserve plant–pollinator interactions in increasingly unpredictable environments? “My research highlights the central role of pollinators not only in plant reproduction and food production, but also in mediating key ecological and evolutionary processes.” (7/9)
What advice would you give to students or early-career researchers interested in evolutionary ecology or pollination biology? “it’s essential to build a strong foundation in natural history. Observing organisms in their environments & understanding their traits & behaviors...” (8/9)
