How do I achieve Reddit level post/comment deletion in Lemmy? - Lemmy.World

The problem I’m facing is, I shared too much of personal information on my Lemmy account and even after “deleting” and “hiding” my posts the title of my posts and images are still visible to me and everyone else, whether they have a Lemmy account or not (I tested this by going to my Lemmy profile URL from a new device in incognito mode where I’m not logged in). The titles of my posts have too much personal information and the images I have posted on posts are still visible too even after deleting and hiding. Guess Lemmy only deletes the “body” of the posts and removes it from “communities” so no cannot access the post from communities. How do I achieve Reddit level deletion here on Lemmy? On Reddit when you delete a comment or post it gets deleted in full and does not leave any traces and is not linked to your account. Of course copies are saved and can be accessed by tools like CAMAS with the help of PushPull API (previously known as PushShift API). I’m not talking about copies or caches or achives. I’m talking about the the actual post itself. How do I achieve Reddit level post/comment deletion in Lemmy? Are there any mass delete tools for Lemmy like Redact or Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES)?

You can edit your post title. Might need to undelete the post first, can’t recall.

I don’t know if pict-rs, the image-hosting thing, has delete functionality, though unless someone is an instance admin or has a saved copy of the URL, I don’t know if there’s any way to get a list of images.

Your comment and the comment from [email protected] are the only useful comments here. Thank you both! The rest are basically “whatever goes on the internet, stays on the internet - forever”, which is to be honest isn’t much helpful. I’ll try un-deleting the posts and changing their titles to some passphrases generated by keepass. But it’s been a while since my posts were made, so I don’t know if un-delete will work. Contacting instance admin looks like signing up for colonoscopy without sedation. I don’t think they’ll be helpful or honor my requests. I’ll try editing my posts titles though. Man! The fediverse is much worse in terms of privacy when compared to corporate social media!
