ah wow, finally living the MacBook One lifestyle. one of the two ports on my M1 Air fully stopped working. I have the replacement port assembly from iFixIt but can't remove the old ones from the model, so it's dongletown from here on out!

(i have endlessly scrubbed through the part replacement videos, and there's one magical second where everyone goes "and pop out the old board" and it just, like, comes out. wild if true)

sprung for a good price for a seemingly-brand-new 14" M2 Pro via someone in North Bay. the battery was manufactured two weeks before the M2 Pros came out, and then it seems like it sat in its box for two years?? it had 2 battery cycles, and the SSD had 13 hours of power-on time across 142 power cycles, and < 100 GB of data written (mostly probably the first software update I installed?)
absolutely wild.
properly one hundo degrees today in Bend, so it's nice to have intake fans on these chips again. (I remember the work-from-home heatwaves in 2020 that just melted down those poor 15" Intel machines. they just had so much heat to share!)
@cbowns some people have too much money
@nickoneill yeah, I suspect over-ordered by some IT dept and just sat forever. Wild.
