As anyone who's been paying attention knows, the GOP has abandoned democracy in its quest for ever more power! They wantonly suppress the vote, gerrymander any Dem influence away, disinform to fire up their base that is increasingly living in a reality that exists only in their minds, skewing public opinion and votes in the process.

The GOP is so drunk on and for power that they are gladly embracing fascism and autocracy to pander to their mega donors and their own dreams of uncontested power. They may even be tanking the economy so that they and their donors can get richer by buying up stocks and assets for pennies on the dollar. They certainly passed their Big Ugly budget bill primarily to reward their ultra-rich donors while ballooning the deficit that the rest of us will be left to struggle with.
