It definitely makes sense to tighten up the loose low end before hitting the fuzz. But there's a trade-off — doing so can strip the fuzz of its character. I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all solution. Different pickups, amps, speakers — and of course, different fingers — all play a role. Anyone claiming there's only one 'correct' way to use it is missing the point. Just ask the shoegazers who run reverb into a Boss HM-2!
