Orion
My love,
My early light
Rising over the shoulder
Of the loveliest hill
Lifting a pale sun behind
In thin drizzle
And soft breeze
Under the rainbow’s
glowing arc,
Your kiss,
Your brightness
Will light my ride
To Michaelmas
From Lammastide
I’m feeling deep
In the ripening and the reap
Those lovely lilac daisies
Always make me weep
My love.

And I’m noticing
The gathering
Of wild geese in flocks
On the windy hill
And swallows in great number
Ready and waiting, still
On the wire
As the sun turns southwards
And the wind to the west
And the wheels keep on turning
Towards the summers end
But what joys
We’ll keep on finding
Around the next gentle bend
Of life’s crooked road.
