Brazil's government requests consultations at WTO over Trump's tariffs

Brazil has requested consultations at the World Trade Organization over tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on the South American nation. The decision by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva takes place on the same day that 50% tariffs imposed by the American leader on many Brazilian exports came into effect. Brazil’s foreign ministry said in a statement “the United States have flagrantly violated key commitments the country has agreed upon at the WTO, such as the principle of the most favored nation and tariff ceilings negotiated at that organization.”
