@drdrang this was the way I was taught in my undergrad statics class as a civil major

@sam When I was an undergrad, the Illinois CE department taught moment-area despite conjugate beam being invented there. I picked it up much later.

PS: Are you sure it wasn’t a structural analysis class? Statics typically doesn’t get into deformation because everything is treated as a rigid body.
