This person says "The future is not self-hosted", which I largely disagree with. But their proposed solution is A+.

Perhaps the middleground should be that the future is self-*hostable*? Not that you *must* self host, but that you always have that option open.

@kboyd I have a friend who has a very large SAS and complains a lot about big datacenter services like AWS, GCP, and Azure. He criticizes the issue of "capitalism" and blah blah blah... But he also wants to make money with his product and hasn't found any alternative to self-host his service. So much irony. I'm more concerned about privacy, but I don't maintain any big services...
