The toughest thing about hanging in creative spaces like fandom is that I'm surrounded by all these amazing creative people while I'm just some blob who has to go through three existential crises before I can finish one(1) drawing and then has to recharge for 300 years before making another.
It's silly to compare yourself to others because you're very different people who work differently.
But it's also hard NOT to do it, you know? Especially since my ability to socialize in fandom depends on how much/quick I can draw before people lose interest. Fandom is too fast-paced nowadays.
Even old/long-lived fandoms go faster than I can follow now. Everyone is gushing about a thing and by the time I've worked up the energy to interact with it, everyone else has moved on to a different thing.
It's isolating, because my only option is enjoying it alone then.
Fandom is lonely when you can't keep up with its breakneck speed.
