@jaggi unfortunately I really donât know that much about it, but a lot of the designs including the one in the picture are based around âskyrmionsâ which are disturbances in the force
patterns in magnetic fields that kind of act like particles because theyâre topological, the magnetic field is twisted up and that twist canât just go away
imagine like a strip of paper held firm on either side, if you grab the middle and twist it you can move around a half-twist on one side (a âââskyrmionâââ) and the half twist on the other side (an âââanti-skyrmionâââ) the magnetic ones are basically 3D magnetic field versions of this, and you can control their movement in certain materials
particle physicists also talk about a different skyrmion in like different fields which is kinda confusing these are specifically magnetic skyrmions
the idea of moving individual skyrmions along paths and having them interact to store information or make logic gates is from the 2013 Fert paper and called âracetracksâ which makes everything sound extra cool :3
