Langara: 10:05PM Jul 29: less than 1ft

Tofino: 11:30PM Jul 29: less than 1ft

Still only an advisory at this time, but it could be upgraded to a warning if the impact is expected to be large enough to warrant.

There should be another update by 8:30PM or 9PM.

No evacuations at this time in BC.

Even though the Advisory is "only" predicting 30cm (1ft), this still implies that serious and dangerous ocean currents will occur so you SHOULD NOT go anywhere near the waters edge.

If a Warning is issued and the Tsunami Siren activates you must leave the inundation zone. The zone is the brown area in the map below. Try not to cross a bridge except Redford Extension.

People outside the zone do not evacuate.

On the off chance a Warning is issued and the Tsunami Siren sounds, you will be able to hear it in all its glory on my backyard pond cam.

The nearest siren speaker is at Redford St and 4th Ave, just 1.5 blocks from Alberniweather HQ. I am just above the inundation zone.

It’s quite something to hear! (we last heard it after the Alaska quake in the very early morning of January 23, 2018)
