I read a few of those replies... holy crap Twitter sucks
...Defending the racist?
Worse - agreeing with him, or saying it makes them like him better. It seems like an awful mix of edgelords and actual racists.
There is no distinction between the two.

He’s right, everyone is a little racist. That’s what happens when you’re raised in a racist society.

But that shit was really racist

And it was said privately that somebody filmed. Doesn’t make it right but neither is releasing a private tape.
Hulk Hogan Racism Scandal: Controversy That Marred His WWE Career

Hulk Hogan's 2015 racism scandal led WWE to cut ties. The leaked audio, lawsuits, and fallout reshaped his legacy, now reignited by his 2025 death.

Newsweek

I just don’t understand how private sex tapes get leaked. First of all, do people really regularly film themselves having sex? Also, surely only the couple would have a copy, and surely you’d trust someone before making such a tape, no?

I’m just amazed each time it happens.

In the digital age, it was probably on someone’s phone that got compromised.
Conservatives would do well to behave like everything they say in private will be published. If they can’t be good people out of empathy they can be good people out of fear.

In most states if you’re party to a conversation you have a right to record it and share it with others if you’d like. Federally it’s legal too, including phone calls. Some states do restrict recording without informing all parties, but most don’t as it’s important means of protecting yourself sometimes.

I emphasized “if you’re a party” above because it’s an important distinction. In many situations you cannot record the conversation of others if you’re not an active participant, though there are exceptions for things said/done in public and in/on your property.

Dude was also the reason unions in wrestling never went anywhere. So a racist and a fucking union buster sellout. Good riddance.
How?
He ratted out Jesse Ventura to McMahon when Jesse was trying to get his wrestling colleagues to join a union. Source.
How Hulk Hogan Helped Prevent Jesse Ventura From Starting A Wrestlers Union - Wrestling Inc.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura once made a push to unionize the professional wrestling industry, but it was Hulk Hogan that apparently caused it to fail.

Wrestling Inc.
ventura dint do any favors either, basically he said f you guys your on your own if you dint unionize with me, he only said it because had a backup plan, a union with sag-aftra, so it basically abandoned them, dint care about thier potential fall out. the wrestlers dint have much power it at the time
Yeah, after Ventura tried to get them to unionize and Hogan messed it all up, Ventura bailed. He was already unionized as an actor before approaching them, but saw the obvious benefits of a union and wanted them to have the same. If he was really their friend, he would’ve fought harder for them to have what he had.
oh yea, i place some of the blame on ventura too, hes the one who started it, he shouldve finished it instead he just ditched them, he was only able to speak from him position, because already was an actor with sag aftra. he shoulve known a lowly wrestler isnt going to have many negotiating positions in a union formation.

plus him being gay.

that’s no excuse /s

Losing Gawker was a big turning point for losing a satirical rag news site. Looking back, losing gawker probably contributed to the enshitification of Reddit too with the influx of Gawker commenters. We may never have been able to avoid the current reality but if Gawker was around still it would have certainly been different.
thiel backing the lawsuit, just made a Conservative activism in the courts, which paved the way from right wing groups backed by russia and funded to introduce legislation or lawsuits against (non-religious laws)
I forgot who was trying to organize the union (Ventura??), but Hogan found out and ran to Vince McMahon.
I know next to nothing about this topic but heard in an interview with Ventura, that Hogan was the only one of that league (or how they call it) who had already signed a fat contract with a higher league and that the unionization would have put that into risk of not proceeding.
Ozzy dragged Hogan down on his way to Hell to do us all a favor
Don’t put him in hell or it’s going to kill the vibe down there. Shove him in heaven with all the other insufferable dicks.

I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun, darlin’ only the good die young.

(Which, if no one’s noticed, is about a guy trying to get in the pants of a Catholic school girl.)

I have quite a few people of the same age in mind that I’d much rather have seen dragged to hell - not that I am too bothered with Hogan
Dude pulled nearly $200,000,000 for charity giving his last concert. If he deserves to be hell, Hogan should be elsewhere.
Ozzy would be there because it’s metal, Hogan would be there to suffer.
Ozzy once played a wise badass in a game about ruling hell, Brütal Legend. This is him now aha
Steam:Brutal Legend

Brütal Legend is an action-adventure that marries visceral action combat with open-world freedom. Set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap, it’s a fresh take on the action/driving genre, which in this case is full of imitation cover bands, demons intent on enslaving humanity and Heavy metal tunes.

Metal, Noise, Blood, and Fire tell me what you most desire.
That was a fun game. Not a good game, but one with an amazing premise. Gotta re-watch some lets plays.
It’s not that Ozzy deserves to be in hell. It’s because, being the Prince of Darkness, he bought some nice real estate there.
He’s one of the ones that can come and go as he pleases
You don’t understand, Ozzy Osbourne is not damned, he is there simply because he wants to trip crazy train with Allister Crowley
If we’re doing “old guys with reality shows in the early 2000s”, I know a person that would complement this specific rule of three very well.

Remember these things come in threes. Hmmmmmmm… I wonder what other major 80s/90s icons who had reality TV shows come to mind?

I wonder…

Didn’t we already hit 3? Hogan, Malcom Jamal Warner, and Ozzy.
Chuck Mangione too
I’m counting Brian Wilson/Ozzy Osbourne/Chuck Mangione as the trilogy, although Wilson was a month and a half ago

Remember these things come in threes.

No.

Gawker media died for this post.
nothing of value was lost back then either, they kept pushing bs clickbait and calling it journualism
BS clickbait is annoying, but it shouldn’t be made literally illegal.

Gawker was found civilly liable for defamation after publishing details from Hulk Hogan’s sex tape. They also published a recording of the quote in the OP, I don’t remember if it was from that tape or a separate incident. The size of the judgement against them basically bankrupted the company.

BS clickbait is, for better or worse, still completely legal.

They also defied the court order to take it down by republishing the video in an article titled something like “the court wants to bury this but we refuse”.
Jesus Fucking Christ
I knew he as trash but … yuck
She had two white kids. So, I guess she took this one to heart.

Jesus Christ. I did a deep web search & I’m seeing this comes from a transcript from 1985. Apparently. IIRC that word only dropped out of favor with the OJ Simpson trials around 1990.

…not trying to excuse it, because goddamn that is some racist & hateful nonsense. Very concentrated. But for the internet kiddos that don’t know the past very well, and don’t research…I figured I’d supply some context for you all. Hateful by any context right there.

Not even from my time, I wasn’t even born yet.

You know who always resented the use of that word?

Black people.

Not just black people either, my mom heard my brother and I call each other that (we’re white) and boxed our ears. I was like 5 years old so this was around 1979. She explained to us what racism was and why it’s wrong to say that. I haven’t used that word since.
You must be new to rap.
Rappers don’t use that word, they use a word that sounds similar but has an entirely different meaning. You must be new to the world if you think they mean the same thing.

Poor Righteous Teachers (often shortened to PRT), were a pro-black hip-hop group active from the late ‘80s to early 2000s, founded by the rapper Wise Intelligent, backup vocalist Culture Freedom and producer Father Shaheed (deceased in 2014).

genius.com/Poor-righteous-teachers-conscious-styl…

There’s niggas is lacking over there, niggas is lacking over here Some niggas is dying over here, and niggas is dying over there

You’re right - it’s niggas! Heureka, finally a safe N-word to use.

You should have explained to your mom you were using “niggas”, as in he sense of brother or close friend.

She did not understand, clearly she’s a racist for assuming.

Are you really this stupid? First of all that isn’t the word we were using, and I wouldn’t have tried to weasel out of deserved punishment at any rate. The lessons my mom taught me made me the man I am today and I cherish every one of them.

If you can’t understand that the context changes depending on who is saying it, how they are saying it, and the intent behind saying it- I feel sorry for you.

Feel free to remain ignorant or racist or whatever your issue is though, you do you.

You made the distinction between the N-word and the word that rappers use (without naimg it so I am still at a guess but I try to follow your argumentation).

So if you used the N-word, you deserve punishment, correct.

But that shows me you wanted to be bad and evil, which, again, legitimates the punishment and using the legitimate word would be weasling out, correct.

So I conclude your intent was to be an asshole by using the N-word. Thanks for clearing that up. I was not personally available in your private situation you lived through, so I am maybe missing some details.

Now could you name me the available not-N-word you spoke of, because that would interest me.

Have you ever asked yourself why it’s so important to you to be able to use that particular word?
No, it’s not important to me and I would not use it. For me color of skin is not important. What happens however is other people use words, then people react to it, 40 years later, and we all have a discussion about that word, so of course I have to address the word.
