WINGS_radioThe #WorldCourt has ruled that States have an obligation to #protect the #environment from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and act with due diligence and cooperation to fulfill this obligation.
This includes the obligation under the #ParisAgreement on climate change to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
States may be required to cease the wrongful conduct, guarantees non-repetition and make full reparation.

World Court says countries are legally obligated to curb emissions, protect climate
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, Netherlands, issued its advisory opinion on the obligations of States in respect of climate change, read out by the President of the Court, Judge Iwasawa Yuji, on Wednesday.
