if you think what certain payment processors are doing with Steam and itch.io is wrong, might it suggest reporting those processors for abusing their market powers to the respective authorities in your country? Japan has already started an investigation, the more countries follow the better

side note it is absolutely wild that an official austrian government homepage uses a random third party hoster and a random third party cookie banner

what the fuck

@aurora I mean I'm with you on the cookie banner. government not physically hosting their own shit is normal tho, at every level right up to the federal, it's no different in Germany

@darkphoenix
Well at least in Germany the host isn't being directly exposed as federal pages are hosted by ITZBund, a pblic agency. Sure they might contract out servers instead of running their own but the stuff is at least behind their own AS so it's hard to tell. I would hope some more sensitive stuff runs internally.

Same for my federal state Saxony where sites are handled by the "Staatsbetrieb Saechsische Informatik Dienste" (with their own AS)
@aurora

@the_moep @aurora ITZBund is increasingly grasping at more federal sites, but I can tell you for a fact that several sites, including those of the Bundestag and several ministries, are hosted by external companies in their own ASNs.
@the_moep @aurora have a poke at bmu.de, bmv.de, bundestag.de, and bundesregierung.de for a taste if you don't believe me :p
(specifically, check the nameservers, as well as the whois on the actual IPs in the A records)
