We're continuing with rendering the outside of the #roundhouse walls; the new render is sheltered by damp Hessian curtains to protect it from direct sun, to prevent it drying before the lime is fully cured. This is all hard physical work and we've at least six days more of it, but it's going well.
@simon_brooke Thank you for sharing the photographs of the roundhouse project. How do you manage shrinkage cracks in the lime plaster layer on a roundhouse? #roundhouse.

@Pollinators we're applying lime in a mix two parts sharp sand to one part natural hydraulic lime, and, as you've seen, protecting it while it cures with Hessian curtains. We're applying thin layers, but obviously because the surface of the bale wall is uneven the exact thickness varies. So far (first lime was applied on Thursday) there have been only very few and very minor cracks.

Temperature here has been around 20° Celsius, which is hot for Scotland, and humidity is only around 70%.

@simon_brooke Thank you for the response. Building with lime plaster has a long history. The hessian protection has to help the lime plaster cure gradually. #roundhouse.
