"If going anywhere with small children was a magical fantasy novel"

by @twisteddoodles

And ... good morning β˜€οΈ

@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles A variation on "are we nearly there yet". On a long car journey which went into the night:

"Mummy Daddy make the all-dark go away."

@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles I had a solution for "are we there yet". I'd hand her the map. "you tell me."

My adult daughter likes maps…

@fishidwardrobe @Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles I was already fascinated by maps at an early age and would read my dads road atlases for fun, as well as anything to do with roads and transport infrastructure, and although I only started driving in my 40s there are places in and around my old town I can drive through even without a navi as the layout is familiar even since childhood..
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles my wife is going to keep this. And share with our daughter.
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles feels like Lord of the Rings ..

@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles

Even without kids, this is hilarious, thanks for sharing it.

@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles there's a secret chapter detailing the weary travelers arriving and discovering that the child does not, in fact, have shoes
@quidcumque Was thinking of you when I saw this πŸ˜„
@Sci_Fi_FanGirl I'm in this picture and I don't like it πŸ˜‚
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles bonus chapter - once there, the kids don’t want to leave.
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles Traveling with young kids is less a vacation than a change of venue
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles Sidequests: "We forgot something and have to go back", "Can we go here tomorrow again, please", "Falling asleep on the way home" and "up until midnight because - see above"
@Natasha_Jay @twisteddoodles It's roughly equivalent to the challenges in 'The Hobbit', while getting out the door with your teenage daughter feels more like the struggles in 'The Lord of the Rings' 😒
