Tamagotchi Smart Review Thread

I do this with every tama run I do, even if I've already reviewed a tamagotchi, but this one is new to me, so I have no idea what to expect.

First impressions: Like the pix, I lament the lack of physical buttons. I think pretty physical buttons is a big part of the tamagotchi experience that is fun. I swipe on my phone all day. My phone is a tool. My tamagotchi is a toy and I want it to feel like one.

Maybe my fingers are weird, and also I have long nails, but the screen doesn't feel well calibrated nor is it easy to do gestures, which you need to do to get to other menus.

Switching to english was super easy. I just bought this english patch card and followed the instructions on the product page and it was done really fast! (I did plug the card in wrong 3 times though )

If you don't like tamagotchis, this is a good time to mute the #tamagotchi hashtag.

@tamagotchi I want you to know I did attempt to play it in Japanese initially! I realized I don't have the spoons to translate it all right now though, so I, as you can tell from the previous post, patched it to english anyway

@tamagotchi my beautiful cuppycake angel. Their name is Kurumaritchi, which comes from the Japanese verb "Kurumaru", meaning to be wrapped up (like in a blanket).

@tamagotchi They are asleep now. Let me tell ya, figuring out the gestures for the tamagotchi smart and tamagotchi pix were equally not very good, because the capacitive touch areas aren't very sensitive, and often feel kinda laggy in their response time?

In this case, the only way my tama would sleep, was if I swiped left and right at a specific cadence, and so it took probably much longer than it should have because kept detecting my finger everywhere all of the screen. Maybe the lotion I'm using is also making me too... lotiony to use the tama? I had to give it to @scremlin because they have shorter nails than me and a slightly better time, but we did eventually do it, we got the tama to sleep by petting them and telling them they were a good tama!

@tamagotchi Oh, I wanted to also say that I do like the overall size of the shell and I think the strap fastener looks really neat. I could definitely plan a really good cyberpunk outfit wearing this. I'll also try to remember to post a size comparison to the Tamgotchi Uni along with seeing if the Uni and Smart straps are cross compatible. Thus far I think the Uni has much better accessibility, but the style of the mint blue Smart really does feel like a more sleek melon soda in color in its vibes.

@tamagotchi Oh, fun fact about the tamagotchi smart, it has a pedometer, but it doesn't affect or tie into game play at all like the tamaogtchi uni. It does look spiffy though, if nothing else than for a neat looking pedometer and watch!
