I was supposed to have gone to sleep but I just remembered that a friend called himself "neuropeculiar" since technically his autism diagnosis was inconclusive and I love it so much I need to see more folks describing themselves like that

@gwenthekween I think mine would land ‘inconclusive’ but from the inside…it’s conclusive to me. So I will stick with autistic and not separate myself out.

What leads to the inconclusive verdict is a lack of understanding about us.

I don’t want more labels. I want more understanding.

@JoBlakely the point was more that neuropeculiar is delightful and a funny way to say neurodiverse without saying that exact word tbh
@gwenthekween
Ah. You mentioned autism specifically.
I worry that stuff like this is bc of stigma & lack of understanding abt autism. I worry it becomes another aspie or ‘highly sensitive person’ that lessens understanding & representation & makes it harder to identify autistics or understand autism. I think we need to really know who we are, not what others tell us we are. We need to tell them what it is. I think it’s esp. important for those who don’t currently ‘qualify’. Self dx is valid.
@gwenthekween
I chose to identify as autistic so there would be more representation of the spectrum.
