Tizen-based Galaxy watches will be out of support in two months

If you’re still using your Tizen-based smartwatch from Samsung, such as Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier or Galaxy Watch Active, you’ll have to plan for an upgrade to a Wear OS-based one, such as the Galaxy Watch8 series. According to the official Samsung schedule for phasing out the Tizen Watch service, you will never be able to re-download any pre-purchased content from the Galaxy Store. You’ll also be unable to use the Tizen Watch services as of September 30th, 2025.

The following scheduled shutdown phases were already in place:

  • September 30th, 2024: Suspension of Tizen Watch paid content sales and new downloads
  • November 30th, 2024: Settlement of Tizen Watch paid content sales
  • June 25th, 2025: Suspension of new downloads for Tizen Watch free content

Once September 30th, 2025, comes, you won’t be able to use the Galaxy Store on the following affected smartwatches:

  • Galaxy Gear Series
    • Galaxy Gear
    • Galaxy Gear 2
    • Galaxy Gear S2
    • Galaxy Gear S3 Classic
    • Galaxy Gear S3 Frontier
  • Galaxy Watch Series (Tizen-based)
    • Galaxy Watch
    • Galaxy Watch Active
    • Galaxy Watch Active2
    • Galaxy Watch3

If you want to continue receiving official support, including system updates, you’ll need to upgrade your smartwatch to the latest models before being able to receive support. If you started getting errors related to Galaxy Store in your Tizen-based smartwatch, this will be the reason.
