Holy shit, after Stephen Colbert practically predicted something like this might happen the other day when commenting on the Skydance/Paramount merger, CBS plans to cancel "Late Show with Stephen Colbert".

This hit me like a ton of bricks because Stephen is one of the comedians I look to in order to help process these troubled times.

“If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better.”

CBS to Cancel 'Late Show With Stephen Colbert' Citing Finances

CBS said it planned to cancel Stephen Colbert's Late Show after next season, citing the weakening finances of late night

Variety

Here's Stephen from a few days ago talking about the Paramount/Skydance merger, Paramount paying a $16 million "big fat bribe" to Trump, and how the new owner's desire to please Trump could put pressure on Stephen Colbert.

Funny how after paying that $16 million bribe, Paramount is cancelling the entire Late Show franchise for "financial reasons". Hey, I know where the money went!

@bascule They censored him by cancelling his show.

CBS will simply give his slot to the affiliates to program with hour-long local newscasts. Or reruns of sitcoms, syndicated game shows or entertainment news. Or infomercials.

Before Letterman,CBS showed old movies after the 11 o'clock news.

And before that, local stations aired old movies or simply signed off at 11:30.

That's what will happen.
