🦌 For Sámi reindeer herders, the area is critical. Mining disrupts migration routes and fragments grazing land, making traditional herding nearly impossible. As Sámi youth activist Elle Márjá Eira said: “If the land disappears, so does the culture.” (Source: NRK)

🌊 The consequences go beyond the Sámi. Fjord ecosystems are interconnected: pollution here can travel with currents, impact fish stocks, and disturb Arctic marine life—already stressed by warming seas.
