@Unprovable long time no see! o/

@gsuberland busy fighting BS on multiple non-SM channels 🙈 how goes?

Question; I keep seeing people claiming "Signal was hacked". No substantive evidence provided. Do you know what they might be referring to?

@Unprovable not a clue! there were a few nonsense claims a couple of months back but they were debunked. haven't seen anything recently, and Meredith hasn't mentioned anything.

going good here. finally back in work, so things have settled down a bit ^^

@gsuberland glad to hear you are back on track!

Hmm, I think I missed these claims. Will have a Google and see if I can make sense of it.

That said, a lot is in postponement in anticipation of releasing the open quantum sensor at DEFCON (and the Assoc. main track talk with my co-conspiritor)

@Unprovable ooooh best of luck, that sounds like a pretty major project!
@gsuberland hardest part is designing an OpAmp, followed by sourcing lab made highly nitrogen-vacancy saturated diamonds. Hardware continues to be wild x-P

@Unprovable designing an opamp *is* hard! modern ones are fairly complicated. I saw a video a while back where someone did a die shot walkthrough on a 90s era design and even that had a surprising amount of complexity in the feedback and compensation side.

nitrogen-vacancy saturated diamond sounds like something audiophiles would get into lmao... what's the story on that front? super uniform lattice or something?

@gsuberland this is probably the best intro for an informed soul such as yourself: https://quantum-journal.org/views/qv-2018-07-17-10/
Sensing magnetic fields with diamonds and green laser light

Louise F. Frellsen and Sepehr Ahmadi, Quantum Views 2, 10 (2018).   Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) centres in diamonds have quantum properties that allow them to sense weak magnetic fields. This is relevant both for research and health care as diamond magnetom…

Quantum
@Unprovable ooh, perfect, thanks! :D
@Unprovable oh, this is an interesting effect! sort of like a magnetic field mediated population inversion.
@Unprovable is this the Zeeman effect under the hood, or something else?
@gsuberland yes it's all Zeeman splitting
@Unprovable nice. I learned a bunch about that while watching CuriousMarc's caesium clock series.
@gsuberland so the breakthroughs are the various hacks to make it cheap, and the way in which we will be open sourcing the whole thing. V1 is up on quantumvillage.org already, this will be the improved all-in-one V2!
